Self-hosted
$0 / monthYour server, your rules. Unlimited users.
Download it, run it, done. The federated services — single sign-on, mobile push, the app directory, SCIM — are included at no cost. Nothing is withheld because you didn't pay.
Run it yourself and pay nothing. Have us run it and pay $99 a month, flat, whatever the size of your team — starting with a 7-day free trial that doesn't ask for a card. That's the entire pricing model.

We operate the server. Up to 100 users.
Starts with a 7-day free trial — no card required. Nothing is charged, and if you don't continue it simply stops.
We provision your box, keep it patched, and handle backups. You still own every message, and the architecture still prevents us from reading one.
This isn't a comparison table, because there's nothing to compare. Every feature below is in the free self-hosted build and the hosted one alike.
Per-seat billing means your chat bill grows every time you hire. Ours doesn't move.
| Team size | OpenChime hosted | OpenChime self-hosted | Slack | Microsoft Teams |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 25 people | $99 | $0 | $219 | $100 |
| 50 people | $99 | $0 | $438 | $200 |
| 100 people | $99 | $0 | $875 | $400 |
Per month. Competitor figures are their published per-seat list rates as of August 2026 and exclude the higher tiers some of them require for single sign-on — a feature we include at every price, including free.
Operations. We run the server, patch it, and back it up. It buys no features — everything is in the free build too.
No. It's the same software. There is no seat limit, no history limit, and no feature behind an upgrade button.
No card. The trial runs for 7 days and nothing is charged. If you don't add a card, the workspace simply stops at the end — there is no invoice and nothing to cancel.
The workspace stops but the data stays, and we email you the date it will be removed. Add a card before then and it starts again exactly where it was.
The hosted plan is capped there. Beyond it, self-host — which is free and has no cap — or run more than one workspace.
In a region you choose when you create it: the US, the UK, Europe, Canada, Australia, or Japan. Your messages and files stay there.
No. Sign up, enter a card, get a server. There is no sales team to route you to and no quote to wait for.
Cancel whenever, from the console. You keep the workspace until the end of the period you've already paid for, and can change your mind until then. It's open source and the data model is documented, so your history is yours to take with you.
We can't. Message content never reaches our infrastructure, so there's nothing for us to train on even if we wanted to.
Yours or ours — the software is identical either way.
