We'll run the server.
$99 a month, flat, up to 100 users. Same software as the free build — you're paying for the operations, never for features.
Try it free for 7 days first. No card, nothing charged, and no cancellation to remember if you decide against it.
What we do
The unglamorous parts of owning a server, so you don't.
Provisioning
Sign up and we stand up a dedicated server for your workspace, configured and running, in about a minute.
Patching
Updates land without a maintenance window you have to plan or a release you have to read about first.
Backups
Your data is backed up on a schedule, and we're the ones who get paged when something needs attention.
Your choice of region
Pick where the server lives when you create it — the US, the UK, Europe, Canada, Australia, or Japan. Your messages and files stay there.
Control
Start, stop, restart, or destroy your server from the console whenever you like. It's your box; we just operate it.
What doesn't change
Hosting is a question of who holds the pager, not who can read your messages.
We still can't see your messages. The invariant is architectural, not a deployment option — a hosted workspace runs the same daemon, storing its own data, with no OpenChime service in the message path. We operate the machine through the hosting provider's API. We don't have a door into the application.
And nothing about hosting is a trap. Every feature is in the free self-hosted build too, the data model is documented, and the source is public — so moving your workspace onto your own hardware later is a migration, not an escape.
Where it runs
Each hosted workspace gets its own dedicated server — not a shared tenant in a pooled database. That's what makes the guarantees above possible: there is no multi-tenant store where your messages could sit beside another company's.
Questions
What if we outgrow 100 users?
Self-host — it's free and uncapped — or run more than one workspace. We won't move you onto a bigger plan, because there isn't one.
Where does the server run?
In a region you choose when you create it: the US, the UK, Europe, Canada, Australia, or Japan. Your messages and files stay there. The region is fixed once the server exists, so pick the one you want up front.
Is there a contract?
No. It's month to month, priced publicly, and you cancel from the console without talking to anybody.
Do you charge per user?
No. Five people or a hundred, it's $99. Hiring should not raise your chat bill.
What happens when I cancel?
Your workspace keeps running until the end of the period you've already paid for, and you can undo the cancellation until then. After that it stops, and we tell you the date the data is removed.
Can we move to self-hosting later?
Yes, and we'd rather you did than pay for something you'd rather run yourself. Same software, documented data model.
